After more than two hours of intense questioning, the examining committee declared that my dissertation would be accepted with no revisions required, and recommended for a University Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

Congrats Anne (rather belatedly). I've enjoyed your mix of personal and academic blogging over the years. The academy needs you! I hope you end up somewhere that appreciates you--I know it can be a struggle if the local culture doesn't mesh with your idiom. Let me know if you are ever billeted in the Bay Area!
