I hate to say it, but that's stunningly cheap. My grad school was 5x that amount per year. This is almost cheaper than my undergrad education, some 15 years ago. And yes, at a public university.
In Canada? The matter of "appropriate" tuition costs is no doubt highly contextual. Where are we talking about? What kind of programme? And frankly, to say that more than $6000 is "stunningly cheap" does little to help the tens of thousands of people who can't go to university this year because where they come from that's a shitload of money.
