I was first surprised, then totally impressed, and finally rather embarrassed to only just now learn that Langdon Winner was invited to join Captain Beefheart. Wow.

Hey, thanks so much for this little nugget of Beefheart-alia. Such a surprise to meet him here (I got here - your blog - by Googling Lucy Suchman's forthcoming book).
And oddly (which is to say, ordinarily, where Beefheart is involved) I "met" him only yesterday. Reading the classic of 70s fuck-and-tell autobiography by Pamela des Barres, "I'm with the band - Confessions of a groupie" I discovered that she got into the groupie business via - well, guess who: the Captain.
Too much synchonicity for one week. I must go lie down.
