Blog changes

I'm trying out the full (well, slightly tweaked) Blogger experience. We've done the same at space and culture. Honestly, I just want something that is effortless. I'm hoping that we'll see less spam this way, but Blogger doesn't let me import the several years' conversations and comments that we've already accumulated. They're saved, of course, but effectively inaccessible at the moment. I don't know what to do about that. But yes, I think this will do just fine for now.

Good to see comments re-enabled!
Blogger can be cool, particularly in that it's off-the-shelf, largely hassle free. Some things - like the Atom feed and comments - are dealt with in the background, meaning you can get on with more important things.

(Perhaps you've been here before and know all this...) You might also avail yourself of blogger hacks via sites like Blogger Hacks and No Fancy Name. These help to make up for the absence of support from Blogger staff.

Aside from that, I'm glad comments are back because I've been wondering about your take on the 'Web 2.0' discussions that have popped up in various places during the last 2-3 weeks.

Every time I read someone's explanation of the idea, I am struck by an avalanche of hypberbolic and incoherent terminology. It's as though I were coming across a particularly bizarre cult of language manglers who nonetheless insist that they have thoroughly reconceptualised the internet.

Does it strike you that way too? I thought the focus on the way concepts are managed might intersect with some of your interests. There's also an element of the 'social' vs. 'social software' discussion to it.

Thanks dp!

To be honest, the Web 2.0 conversations are mostly out of my range these days as I focus on more academic stuff, but you're right, it does seem as though there is a bit of a language game going on.

I'll think some more on that ;)

Wow, this is quite a bit different. I like the new look, and i hope taht you'll be able to combat blogspam. I do miss the old backgrounds, though....
